So, what is Myotherapy?
Myotherapy (muscular therapy) is the evidence based assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal pain, injuries, and associated conditions. Myotherapy can help improve the integrity of the soft tissue structures of your body (muscles, fascia, ligaments and tendons), which is important in the prevention of injury, pain and dysfunction.
Literally meaning Muscle Therapy, Myotherapists are your muscle experts!
Myotherapists surpass other manual therapist as they incorporate a variety of evidence based modalities into their treatment, these include:
Soft and Deep Tissue Techniques
Myofascial Dry Needling
Muscle Energy Techniques
Utilising a hands on approach, myotherapy is skilled in reducing muscular aches and pains by addressing:
"This is not a massage, this is educated, calculated, treatment"
Our approach is holistic and addresses the dysfunctions leading to pain as well as postural and work causes. Injury Assessment is a key skill in determining which muscles/soft tissue are injured. A normal myotherapy session involves a postural assessment along with your pain/dysfunction complaints, treatment (usually 45min - 1hour appointment) and rehabilitation. Common injuries that we treat:
Low back pain
We believe that our treatment addresses all muscular complaints and that you will have a clear understanding of your injuries and treatment plan.
