Myofascial Dry Needling

Dry Needling, commonly referred to as 'Trigger Point Needling', is a highly effective technique used to treat myofascial pain and disfunction. It involves the deep insertion of specialised fine filament needles into trigger points ("knots") or tight bands of muscles by deactivating muscular strain and spasm. This technique is often utilised in conjunction with massage to reduce multiple forms of muscular pains and soft tissue injuries such as:

  • Trigger points

  • Muscle tears

  • Muscle contusions (corkies)

  • Tendonitis

  • Ligament sprains

  • Sciatic pain

  • General stiffness

Needling also works well for areas that are too tender to treat with massage and can be helpful for people suffering Fibromyalgia. Needling is affective for muscles as it gets right to the point and can deactivate tightness and trigger points better than massage can.
